UK investment and financial planning group Tilney Bestinvest has appointed John Tiner and Breon Corcoran (pictured) as non-executive directors.
John Tiner has a variety of experience in the UK financial services industry, including in commercial and regulatory areas and in both executive and non-executive roles.
He has served as chief executive of the UK Financial Services Authority, as well as chairman of the UK Financial Capability Steering Group and was awarded a CBE in 2007.
Tiner is currently a non-executive director of the Credit Suisse Group, a member of the advisory board of private equity firm Corsair Capital, and a visiting fellow and member of the Advisory Board of the Oxford University Centre for Corporate Reputation. In May, Tiner was also appointed chairman of insurance intermediary, Towergate Insurance.
Corcoran has experience in developing online businesses and is the chief executive of Internet betting exchange, Betfair. Prior to this, Corcoran spent ten years at Paddy Power, Ireland’s largest bookmaker, where he was chief operating officer. He began his career working as a proprietary trader at JP Morgan and Bankers Trust.
Michael Covell, chairman of Tilney Bestinvest says the group, which is managed by European private equity firm Permira, is currently well positioned to capitalise on the changes taking place in the landscape for UK pensions and investments.
