Pictet names Moorhead replacement

Pictet Asset Management has promoted Avo Ora to head of emerging market equities following the departure of John Moorhead.

Ora and Moorhead had previously been co-heads of emerging market equities before Moorhead confirmed he was leaving the firm to return to Australia.

A spokesperson for Pictet Asset Management said that Kiran Nandra-Koehrer, who joined the company in 2016 as senior client portfolio manager, will take up the position of head of emerging market equities management.

Moorhead is joining Sydney-based boutique investment manager Maple-Brown Abbott to launch and build out its global emerging markets (GEM) capability.

He has been appointed to the newly created role of head of global emerging markets, reporting to CEO and managing director, Sophia Rahmani, and CIO, Garth Rossler.

In this role, he will work with senior management to build out the business’ GEM capability as well as serve as lead portfolio manager and investment analyst.

As part of his remit, he will recruit additional investment analysts for the new offering. It is expected that a strategy will be available to investors by mid-2022.
