Newton appoints new head for emerging markets and Asia equities

Newton Investment Management Ltd, a key player within BNY Mellon Investment Management, has announced the appointment of Liliana Castillo Dearth as the new head of emerging markets and Asia equities.

Bringing over two decades of experience, Dearth is expected to enhance Newton’s offerings in these dynamic market segments.

Having honed her skills at Wellington Management and AllianceBernstein, Dearth has expertise in managing equity strategies and an understanding of sustainable growth trends in emerging markets.

Newton said her strategic vision aligns with the firm’s commitment to research-driven stock selection and long-term value creation.

Chief investment officer of equities at Newton, John Porter, expressed enthusiasm about Dearth’s arrival, citing her alignment with the firm’s investment philosophy.

CEO Euan Munro also emphasised the importance of the emerging markets and Asia to Newton’s strategy and expressed confidence in Dearth’s pivotal role within the equity team.

Dearth will work closely with portfolio managers Alex Khosla and Zoe Kan, as well as investment analysts Fei Chen and Aditya Shah.
