NatureAlpha announces partnership with MSCI amid growing biodiversity concerns

NatureAlpha, a data provider for nature and biodiversity, has announced a partnership with MSCI following the agreement at the COP15 Conference about the role of the investment community in protecting the environment.

The collaboration will allow investors to access advanced data and tools to identify and assess risks from nature and biodiversity loss in their portfolios.

MSCI, a data and index provider, will distribute NatureAplha’s biodiversity data and analytical tools to the global investment community.

Dr Vian Sharif, the founder of NatureAlpha, said: “Our collaboration with MSCI comes at a crucial moment for biodiversity and nature with investors driving demand for data which asset managers can integrate into workflows.”

As more than half of the world’s GDP depends on nature, financial exposure to risks from nature loss is significant, and accountability is greater than ever, Sharif said.

The Global Biodiversity Framework, adopted by 196 parties at COP15 in December 2022, calls on actors across society, including public and private financial sectors, to work together to protect nature and biodiversity.
