LGIM promotes two to fund manager on property strategies

The real assets arm of Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) has promoted two people to become fund managers on separate strategies.

Rob Codling replaces Mark Russell as fund manager on the flagship Managed Property Fund, while Ali Farrell takes Codling’s previous spot as fund manager on its segregated mandate offering. Mark Russell decided to leave LGIM after ten years, the firm said.

The Managed Property Fund invests primarily in direct freehold and leasehold property across the UK in all major asset classes.

Prior to joining the firm in 2012, Codling was previously at Jones Lang LaSalle where he worked as an asset manager for LGIM’s industrial property investment fund. Farrell joined in 2015.

Michael Barrie, director of fund management at LGIM Real Assets, said: “As we continue to build and diversify our real estate platform, in addition to continuing to attract strong and complementary skills to the business, we also recognise the importance of retaining and developing existing talent, rotating high performers through senior, strategic roles across our mandates.
