Financial services firm Apex has hired BlackRock’s Barry Hindmarch to take on the new role of head of real estate for the UK, Ireland and the Channel Islands.
Hindmarch will be responsible for developing the firm’s property fund services business in the region, including growing and managing real estate client relationships.
At BlackRock, Hindmarch was a director with responsibility for managing the finance team working on various open and closed-ended real estate funds in Europe, Middle East and Africa. One of these was the fund manger’s flagship £3.4 billion (€3.8 billion) UK property strategy.
He is the latest addition to Apex’s real estate business, following the appointment of Michael Sheahan earlier this year as global head of real estate fund services.
Hindmarch has also worked at Axa Real Estate holding positions including global head of fund accounting and UK head of Axa & mandates accounting.
Over the course of his career, he has held fund accounting roles at Patrizia AG (formerly Rockspring Property Investment Managers LLP), Aberdeen Property Investment Managers (formerly Barclays Property Investors) and Lazard Brothers Merchant Bank.
Apex services around $300 billion across real estate and private equity.
