Neptune Investment Management has hired Valentine Bugeja in the newly created role of head of Switzerland.
Bugeja will have overall responsibility for growing Neptune’s business in Switzerland and will be based in Geneva.
Prior to joining Neptune, Bugeja was sales manager at M&G Investments. In her new position she will report to Charlie Parker, head of distribution.
Neptune has operated in the Swiss market since 2009 when it registered a number of funds for sale, and the firm aims to continue this focus on the professional market in the region.
Commenting on the appointment, Parker highlighted further opportunities in the Swiss market.
“Switzerland has weathered some storms in recent years and is also experiencing significant regulatory change. However, it remains home to a third of the world’s wealth and we believe clear winners are emerging from the changes the market is experiencing,” he says.
“In particular we see firms in the private banking and independent asset manager space that can be identified as those that have potential to thrive in the years ahead.”
He adds that Neptune views the Swiss market as a region that has an increasing need for open-architecture fund solutions, driven by client demand in the wake of new bank transparency rules.
