Swiss & Global Asset Management has launched a fund that allows investors to gain exposure to corporate bonds in emerging markets, a market worth
around $1 trillion (€780 billion), according to the firm.
Meanwhile, Baring Asset Management has launched a fund targeting China’s offshore bond market.
Enzo Puntillo, Dorthe Fredsgaard Nielsen and Tania Minella will jointly manage the Swiss & Global fund, which will use risk management techniques to limit exposure to country risk.
“Emerging markets are the undisputed driver of global growth and emerging corporates are benefiting from strong macro-economic fundamentals, low leverage, policy reforms and consumer growth,” said Puntillo, who is head of fixed income emerging markets at Swiss & Global.
With the Baring China Bond Fund, Baring Asset Management intends to capture the anticipated appreciation in the value of the Chinese currency.
“China’s offshore bond market remains in its early stages, but it is growing at a rapid pace and we believe it represents a new and exciting way for investors to participate in China’s long-term economic expansion,” said Sean Chang, head of Asian debt at Barings.
