Funds Europe group editor Nick Fitzpatrick won Journalist of the Year – Investor Services at the State Street UK Institutional Press Awards on Tuesday (15) this week.
State Street’s annual awards had over 200 entries across a number of categories this year and are held in recognition of “outstanding performance in institutional financial services journalism”.
Entries were judged by an independent panel of industry professionals led by veteran freelance journalists Padraig Floyd and Lynn Strongin Dodds.
“The investor services sector is a major area of coverage for Funds Europe and I’m delighted to have won this award, which was specifically for an article on transfer agency,” said Fitzpatrick.
Cuan Coulter, State Street UK country head, said: “With a record-breaking number of entries surpassing the 200 mark this year, the awards continue to recognise outstanding journalism and acknowledge the vital role that the financial media play as educators and information providers in a rapidly moving sector and news cycle.”
The judges were supported by respected figures from the European financial services industry including Andy Griffiths, executive director, The Investor Forum; Kristina Ingate, director for governance and company secretary, London CIV; Dan Melley, head of investments, Mercer; Miranda Seath, director of market insight and fund sectors, The Investment Association; and Karis Stander, director, culture, talent & inclusion, at the Investment Association and managing director, Investment20/20.
