Editorial: Inflation’s on the rise

Inflation is now a major talking point in asset management after hitting a 30-year high in the US. Price increases are seen across the board, in services, goods, food and energy.

Used vehicles were one of the top-three drivers of inflation in America’s November figure, which showed a 6.8% year-on-year rise in overall inflation.

One commentator in our inflation report (page 28) says he’s confident used car prices will fall, but there is much more uncertainty around labour and supply shortages.

Inflation makes our roundtable discussion on infrastructure timely, with this asset class often seen as a hedge against rising prices.

And we are delighted to feature a special report on the annual Funds Europe Awards in this final issue of the year, in which asset managers and asset servicers are recognised for their achievements.

For the first time this year, we have an award for ESG provider.
