BNP Paribas AM launches ocean-loving ETF

BNP Paribas Asset Management has launched a “blue economy” ETF investing in an equally weighted index of 50 large-cap companies connected to sustainability in the oceans.

The BNP Paribas Easy ECPI Global ESG Blue Economy Ucits ETF is listed on Xetra and Euronext and has a total expenses ratio of 0.30%.

Blue economy refers to the sustainable use of ocean resources for economic growth, improved incomes and jobs, and healthy ocean ecosystems.

The ETF tracks the ECPI Global ESG Blue Economy index, which conforms to UN Sustainable Development Goal 14: ‘Life below water’.

BNP Paribas Cardif is an investor in the ETF. Olivier Héreil, deputy asset management CEO at the firm, said: “BNP Paribas Cardif made the decision to invest in this blue economy ETF because as a long-term investor, we want to contribute to a greener future.  We believe that protecting the world’s oceans and marine and coastal ecosystems – and more broadly, biodiversity – is absolutely critical.

The ETF follows the launch of a ‘circular economy’ ETF in May 2019.
