Amundi has made Alessandro Varaldo chief executive officer of Amundi SGR, the firm’s Italian arm.
Since 2010, Alessandro Varaldo worked as chief commercial officer at Eurizon Capital, the asset management subsidiary of Italian bank Intesa Sanpaolo. He was responsible for savings, investment and pension products at Banca dei Territori division of Intesa SanPaolo Group.
In the same period he also sat on the board of directors of Centrovita and Penghua Asset Management, headquartered in Shenzhen, China. Previously he held the position of general manager at Capitalia Investment Management after two years spent at Capitalia as head of products management and sales.
From 1999 until 2003, he was executive chairman of San Paolo Invest Ireland Asset Management, a company he established.
In 1997, he was appointed head of the fixed income team at Fideuram Asset Management after two years spent at Finanza e Futuro as a fund manager.
He also teaches as a contract professor of financial economics at the University of Turin.
Amundi has over €950 billion in assets under management.
