ETF Securities and Lombard Odier Investment Managers have jointly listed a range of ‘smart beta’ fixed income exchange-traded funds (ETFs) on the Italian stock market.
The Ucits-compliant ETFs listed on Borsa Italiana are linked to fundamentally weighted bond indices.
The four ETFs have already raised $225 million from their listings in Switzerland and the UK.
Covering both government and corporate issuers, the two firms say the strategies prioritise a borrower’s capacity to repay their debts, rather than their capacity to borrow more money and that the ETFs encourage bond investors to “think of themselves as lenders”.
The ETFs are the Global Government Bond Fundamental GO Ucits ETF; Global Corporate Bond Fundamental GO Ucits ETF; Euro Corporate Bond Fundamental GO Ucits ETF; Emerging Market Local Government Bond Fundamental GO Ucits ETF.
ETF Securities has 215 products listed on the ETFplus segment of the Borsa Italiana making it the segment’s largest issuer per number of products.
