Canada’s Manulife Asset Management has appointed Marco Zanuso to head European distribution in a regional sales push that also sees the relocation of a Hong Kong business development leader to focus on northern Europe.
Zanuso will be posted in the firm’s London office and report to Claude Chene, global head of distribution.
He will lead a distribution team that focuses on institutional and wholesale clients. The role also covers the Middle East and Africa, but not the UK.
Prior to joining Manulife, Zanuso was a business development head at Sandell Asset Management. Over a 17-year career, he has also worked at FRM (Man Group), SEI Investments, and Scottish Widows Investment Partnership.
Manulife’s James Wheeler will relocate from Hong Kong to London in July to oversee business development in the Nordics and Netherlands. A spokesperson for the firm said both regions were strategically important markets for Manulife, and fundamental to the firm’s European growth plans.
The appointments are the latest in a series of steps by Manulife to expand its global distribution. Last year, Robert Corbally was appointed to lead product development in Europe and Diana Stockwell was appointed as head of sales and relationship management for Latin America.
Manulife manages assets of $301 billion (€264.4 billion) globally.
