State Street hires Lawton as head of securities finance, EMEA

EMEAState Street Corporation has hired Alex Lawton as senior managing director and head of securities finance for State Street Global Markets in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). He succeeds Don D’Eramo, who after five years of leading the securities finance team for EMEA has chosen to return to North America at the end of June 2015. Based in London, Lawton’s new role involves developing the securities finance business across the EMEA region and helping State Street’s clients to navigate the evolving regulatory framework. He will report to Rajen Shah, head of State Street Global Markets for EMEA, and Lou Maiuri, global head of securities finance. Maiuri says the appointment will help the firm to further develop its securities finance business, in keeping with the changing regulatory landscape. Prior to joining State Street, Lawton worked as the head of equity finance and equity prime services, EMEA, at Barclays. He has also held the role of head of prime brokerage for EMEA at Bank of America and global head of structured equity trading at Dresdner Kleinwort, which was acquired by Commerzbank in 2008-9. State Street Corporation has $28.19 trillion (€26.32 billion) in assets under custody and administration and $2.42 trillion in assets under management, as of December 31, 2014. ©2015 funds europe
