SGSS sets up Northern Europe team

Societe Generale Securities Services (SGSS) has established a team in Amsterdam to support its development in the Netherlands and the Nordic region.

The move creates two positions, with Roel van de Wiel (pictured) appointed commercial director, and Bastiaan Aalders appointed head of business development.

Van de Wiel joins from State Street sector solutions, where he was responsible for business development in the Netherlands, the Nordics and Belgium. He will be charged with enhancing and developing SGSS’ business in the region across all client segments.

Aalders was a regional head of asset owner products at State Street. He will be responsible for developing and implementing business and client solutions for North Europe.

Both will report to Mathieu Maurier, global head of sales and relationship management at SGSS. The office will cover the Netherlands, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.

“These appointments are important milestones in SGSS’ development plans in Europe,” says Maurier.

“They will allow SGSS to strengthen its coverage in the region, where the Societe Generale group is already present, by offering clients its whole range of services, in particular the externalisation of non-core activities linked to regulatory requirements.”
