Equity was the best selling fund sector among UK investors for the fifth month in a row with a net £1.1 billion (€1.5 billion) of sales, according to The Investment Association (IA).
The figures, which are for September, show UK equity income funds remained the top sellers with net retail sales of £445 million.
Fixed income funds saw the highest net retail outflows since June 2013, at £515 million.
Yesterday, Morningstar reported that fixed income outflows across Europe were €16.3 billion in September and quarterly outflows were the highest since 2008.
Institutional investors pulled out a net £899 million from UK funds during the month, the IA figures show.
UK equity funds were the best-selling equity category in September, followed by Europe and global.
Asian equity funds saw outflows of £129 million – the fifth consecutive month of outflows.
Asian retail investors have recently been pulling out of global equities and moving to home markets.
