Schroders launches Asian Ucits hedge fund

Schroders has collaborated with a long-short investor to launch a pan–Asian equity fund within the Ucits framework.

Indus Capital and Schroders have launched the PacifiChoice fund on Schroders’ Luxembourg GAIA platform.

Aiming to deliver high risk-adjusted returns and preserve capital during volatile market periods, it will invest in equities and equity-related securities in the Asia Pacific region.

Indus Capital’s investment team is led by Sheldon Kasowitz, a co-founder of the firm, who has been involved in long/short equity strategies for over 20 years, according to the firm.

An existing Indus Ucits fund, which PacifiChoice is based on, has delivered a positive annualised net return since inception in January 2011, according to Indus.

Indus manages about $5.3 billion (€4.8 billion) assets, while as of December 31, 2015, Schroders manages £324.9 billion (€380.5).
