Fidelity International (FI) has appointed Andrew McCaffery to the newly-created position of global chief investment officer (CIO) for alternatives.
With over 30 years’ industry experience, McCaffery joins Fidelity International from Aberdeen Standard Investments where he was global head of strategic client investments.
Beginning in July, McCaffrey’s roles will include spearheading the development of FI’s alternatives and solutions franchises. This will involve incorporating the funds manager’s existing multi asset, investment solutions design and real estate teams.
Based in London, he will report directly to Bart Grenier, FI’s global head of asset management.
McCaffrey brings with him a wealth of experience, having held various senior roles throughout his career at firms such as BlueCrest Capital Management and Attica Alternative Investments.
Grenier said that McCaffery will be taking up “a key new role” for FI.
“As we look to evolve our product and solutions offerings to continually meet the changing requirements of our clients, we see that alternative investments are playing an ever more important role in our clients’ portfolios,” Grenier said.
