BMO GAM hires Swiss and French sales directors

BoardroomBMO Global Asset Management has made two sales hires to cover France and Switzerland as the North American asset manager looks to expand its European presence.

Jean-Michel Bongiorno and Björn Bahlmann have been appointed sales directors for France and Switzerland respectively. The pair will report to Kristy Barr, head of institutional distribution for Europe (ex-Germany and Netherlands).

Bongiorno joins from CBRE Global Investors, where he was director of South European investor relations for eight years. He was responsible for equity raising, relationship management and business development.

Bahlmann joins from Morgan Stanley, where he was responsible for Swiss, German and Austrian sales to institutional and intermediary clients.

BMO GAM will open a Paris office later this year. The firm currently manages assets of around €210 billion.

In 2014, the firm purchased F&C in the UK in order to take more European share.

Funds Europe interviewed Barry McInerney, co-chief executive, last year.
