Candriam Investors Group, a European multi-asset manager owned by New York Life Investment Management, has appointed Matthieu David as head of Italy.
David joins from BNP Paribas Investment Partners and will lead a team of four sales managers, as well as coordinate local support functions including client relations and marketing.
He reports to Renato Guerriero, global head of European client relations, who recently became a member of the executive committee.
At BNP Paribas Investment Partners, David worked as director of external distribution in Italy, having led the retail division from 2010 to 2013.
From 2007 to 2010 he held the position of senior client relationship manager at Fortis Investments Management Italia. Prior to this, he spent more than ten years with Axa Group in Italy, working on sales development, planning and control, real estate management and internal audit.
Candriam, which now manages €2.8 billion in the Italian pensions industry, has also hired two others for its Italy sales team. Alessandro Malinverno and Ergys Luga will join Emanuele Colombo and Jessica Fasan, currently working in Italy, and will assist in developing the distribution of Candriam funds through Italian banks and the financial advisors network, including institutional clients.
Malinverno joins from Banca Reale in Italy where he was the head of third parties and the distribution network from 2011 onwards.
Luga joined Candriam in 2009 and spent four years as an alternative investment specialist. In 2013 he joined the sales team covering the Nordic market, and has now relocated to Italy.
David, Malinverno and Luga all take on newly created roles. Candriam says it is seeing more demand in the region.
