State Street Global Advisors has appointed Kathleen Gallagher as head of exchange-traded fund (ETF) model portfolios for Emea and Asia Pacific.
In the newly-created role Gallagher will be responsible for delivering State Street’s institutional multi-asset investment products to the intermediary market, primarily through managed ETF portfolios.
Gallagher previously spent five years consulting at various financial firms including at BlackRock / Barclays Global Investors, where she worked as head of investment strategy in the iShares’ solutions team.
Based in London, Gallagher will report to Rory Tobin, global head of SPDR ETFs, who said that the intermediary advice model is changing around Europe and this would bring new challenges to advisors in the years ahead.
“Increased regulation and changing policy on fees mean advisors face tougher conditions in which to build viable businesses,” he said.
“Kathleen’s expertise working with clients to create investment portfolios tailored to their investment profile will allow us to combine the best of SPDR ETFs and State Street’s institutional asset allocation capability.”
