HANetf, an ETF provider, has collaborated with Sprott Asset Management to launch “Europe’s first” Sprott Copper Miners ESG-Screened Ucits ETF (CPPR), providing investors with ESG-screened exposure to copper miners.
The ETF provides investors with ESG-screened exposure to copper mining equities, focusing on copper mining companies that derive the majority of their revenue and/or assets from copper.
John Ciampaglia, CEO of Sprott Asset Management, commented: “Despite the size of the copper metal market and growing investor interest in the metal as the energy transition gains momentum, it’s been challenging for investors to gain targeted exposure to copper miners.”
According to the asset managers, the ETF addresses the demand for environmentally responsible investments, particularly from a large institutional investor in the DACH region (Deutschland/Germany, Austria and Confœderatio Helvetica).
The product tracks the Nasdaq Sprott Copper Miners ESG Screened Index and adheres to the EU’s Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation under Article 8 requirements through ESG reviews by Skarn Associates, controversy review by Sustainalytics and additional screens for compliance with the United Nations Global Compact – a voluntary agreement aimed at encouraging global businesses and firms to embrace sustainable and socially responsible practices, and to provide updates on the progress of their implementation.
Hector McNeil, co-founder and co-CEO of HANetf, added: “The ETF is the first opportunity for European investors to get ESG-screened copper exposure, and we believe this is timely given the role copper will play in the global energy transition.”
