Sanlam hires new global equity income team

Sanlam is to install a new global equity income team by the end of the year, headed by Mark Whitehead who is set to join from Martin Currie.

Whitehead, who is currently head of income at Martin Currie, is to work alongside Alan Porter, his co-manager at Martin Currie. Investment analyst Laurie Lochtie also joins the team.

Whitehead and Porter will oversee a global equity income fund due to be launched later this year. The fund will focus on sustainable dividends and be seeded with £200 million (€221 million) of Sanlam money.

Sanlam is attempting to increase its global equities expertise and already has a ‘global high quality’ team headed by Pieter Fourie.
