Rowan Dartington appoints managing director for Signature

UK-based wealth manager Rowan Dartington has appointed John Cowmeadow as managing director for Rowan Dartington Signature, its discretionary management subsidiary aimed at independent financial advisers.

Rowan Dartington was acquired by St James Place (SJP) last July for £34 million (€38 million) although when the deal was completed, it was announced that the firm would continue to be run as a separate entity.

However, Rowan Dartington agreed to provide the larger SJP group with a wholly owned discretionary fund management capability.

Cowmeadow joins the firm from investment manager Brewin Dolphin, where he was head of intermediary sales, running the entire intermediary distribution arm of the business.

He has also held roles at Newton Investment Management and the Royal Bank of Scotland.

Cowmeadow is replacing Guy Stephens, who has moved to a broader technical investment role supporting the private client, intermediary and SJP partner business, along with developing and expanding Rowan Dartington International.

Graham Coxell, Rowan Dartington’s executive chairman, said: “Since our acquisition by St James’ Place, we remain committed to supporting the UK IFA market for the long term.”
