RMG hires Martin Gilbert as deputy chairman

Former Aberdeen Asset Management chief Martin Gilbert has joined UK asset manager River & Mercantile Group (R&M) as its deputy chairman.

Since stepping down from Aberdeen in late 2020, Gilbert has taken on a number of executive positions.

He is currently chairman of digital bank Revolut as well as a senior independent director at Glencore and chairman at London asset manager Toscafund.

RMG chairman Jonathan Dawson welcomed Gilbert’s appointment. “He brings huge experience of the sector to RMG and we all look forward to working with him to develop RMG into a substantial growth business.”

Gilbert commented: “RMG is a business with great potential. In the current environment there are market opportunities for RMG, both organic and through acquisitions, that can drive shareholder value and I look forward to working with the board to help progress this development.”
