Pictet launches market neutral Ucits fund

Pictet Asset Management has launched a market neutral equity fund and says it could be a unique strategy.

The Pictet TR-Aquila fund is Ucits-compliant and offers weekly liquidity.

It aims for long-term capital growth with low correlation to equity markets “by avoiding heavily macro dependent companies”. The fund focuses on sectors mainly in the US and Europe and including healthcare, telecoms and consumer.

The fund is managed from London by Asim Nurmohamed and has been run within Pictet’s multi-strategy funds since 2018, but is now offered to the public across 12 countries as a standalone product.

Doc Horn, head of total return equities at the firm, said: “We believe this is a unique strategy within the Ucits landscape and one that will provide diversification to investor portfolios.”
