Northern Trust hires new leader for Dutch asset services

Herman Prummel, formerly of BlackRock, has been appointed by Northern Trust to head its Netherlands business.

Prummel was BlackRock’s chief operating officer for Netherlands, Nordics and the Isle of Man, and he takes up the role vacated by Wim van Ooijen, who has become Northern Trust’s head of Switzerland and Germany.

Based in Amsterdam, Prummel is responsible for business development, sales and client activities for Northern Trust’s asset servicing business and will also work closely with the company’s local asset management team.

Northern Trust – an asset manager with $1 trillion (€851 billion) of assets under management and $9.3 trillion of assets under administration and custody in its asset servicing business – said the appointment was part of an ongoing expansion in Europe.

The firm opened its Netherlands office in March 2006.
