Vanguard has appointed Adrienne Monley to the position of head of investment stewardship for Europe.
In the newly-created role Monley will establish and lead Vanguard’s new European investment stewardship team and will be based in the asset manager’s European headquarters in London.
Once it is set up, the stewardship team will assume responsibility for advocating on behalf of Vanguard fund investors with public companies in the UK and Europe.
This will involve direct engagement with public company board directors and executives, as well as proxy voting.
“We have historically managed all of our investment stewardship engagement and proxy voting from Vanguard’s global headquarters in the US,” said Glenn Booraem, Vanguard’s investment stewardship officer.
“However, with the growth of our ownership in and engagement with European public companies, this is the right time to establish a new dedicated team in London.”
Monley was previously a senior manager and strategist at Vanguard’s US-based investment stewardship team.
Pennsylvania-based Vanguard manages $5 trillion (€4 trillion) on behalf of more than 20 million investors worldwide of which the firm’s European operations have over $170 billion in assets under management.
