Templeton Emerging Markets Group has named a string of new lead or sole portfolio managers as Mark Mobius (pictured) steps back from day-to-day running of the funds.
Mobius is in some cases leaving some of his co-managers to work as sole leads and he will no longer be listed as a portfolio manager on most of the funds.
Mobius, whose successor Stephen Dover was appointed last year, will remain as executive chairman of the group and will continue to be involved in the investment process.
Chetan Sehgal, director of global emerging markets and small-cap strategies, will be named lead portfolio manager on various global emerging market and small-cap strategies.
Carlos Hardenberg, director of frontier market strategy, will become sole lead portfolio manager on frontier market strategies for non-US-registered funds. He will also be added as co-lead or portfolio manager on various global emerging markets strategies and as lead portfolio manager on the Africa strategy.
Also included in the changes are Eddie Chow, director of China
strategy, who becomes sole portfolio manager of China strategies; Gustavo Stenzel, director of Latin America strategy, who becomes sole manager on the Latin America strategy; Greg Konieczny, director of specialty strategies, who becomes a manager on the Eastern Europe strategy; and Allan Lam, director of Asia strategy, who will remain lead portfolio manager on the pan-Asian strategies.
There are also portfolio managers who will be added as listed portfolio managers on various funds to correspond with their areas of focus. These include Eric Mok, who will be added as portfolio manager on pan-Asian strategies.
