AI-powered legal copilot Robin AI has secured $26 million in a series B funding round led by Temasek, with participation from QuantumLight, Plural and AFG Partners.
Founded in 2019 by Richard Robinson and James Clough, the platform utilises generative AI to streamline contract drafting, negotiation and information extraction from contract repositories.
Offered as a Microsoft Word add-in, the legal copilot – a conversational interface that uses large language models to support users in various tasks – claims to reduce contract review time by 85%, empowering legal teams to work more efficiently.
Notably, the private equity sector, requiring swift deal closures and intricate obligation tracking, has shown strong interest. The company’s clientele includes Pepsico, PwC, Yum! Brands, AlbaCore Capital Group, and BlueEarth Capital.
The funding infusion will fuel Robin AI’s expansion, focusing on the US, where three-quarters of revenue is generated, and establishing a presence in Singapore to tap into the Asia Pacific market. Additionally, the investment will help its AI and machine learning team grow, shared the company.
CEO and co-founder Robinson said: “We are building the AI platform for the legal sector – a service that deeply understands every aspect of the legal function, from drafting contracts, researching case law to explaining legal concepts. This will help level the playing field between big and small law firms and help more people access legal services.”
