HSBC AM hires hedge fund EM bond manager

Caroline Keany (pictured) has joined HSBC Asset Management as a senior emerging markets portfolio manager in London.

Keaney joins from EMSO Asset Management and is now based in HSBC AM’s emerging markets debt team.

She will co-manage with Julio Obeso all the firm’s emerging markets corporate debt strategies.

At EMSO, Keaney was most recently a senior portfolio manager and partner, leading emerging markets corporate debt hedge funds.

In a more than 20 years career,  she has also been a portfolio manager at Dillon Read Capital Management (now UBS Securities) and credit analyst at Moore Capital.

Bryan Carter, head of global emerging market debt at HSBC AM, said Keaney’s experience in high yield and investment grade corporate debt investments – including for alpha-generating hedge fund strategies – meant the firm’s clients could further “explore the many opportunities that investing in EMD brings”.
