Formuepleje has hired Morten Gregersen to lead the Danish asset manager’s newly established equity investment team.
Gregersen will join the new team on July 1. The team will be responsible for building a global equity strategy that will focus on transition themes that affect society.
Prior to Gregersen’s appointment, the firm’s equity investment arm had mostly been managed by external managers. Peter Kjærgaard, managing director of Formueplege, explained that in-house management would allow the firm to possess more control over equity investments.
He said: “By bringing parts of the equity investments in-house, we get closer to the companies we invest in and can therefore set even higher demands, among other things, for their sustainable restructuring.”
Gregersen currently works for Nykredit as head of equities and chief portfolio manager, where he oversees five equity funds. He joined Formuepleje’s regional rival in 2011 following Nykredit’s acquisition of Amber Asset Management. Gregersen co-founded and worked as CEO and investment manager at Amber.
