Carmignac hires global bond manager

Bond manager Abdelak Adjriou, who started his career at IBM 20 years ago, has joined Paris- based Carmignac to manage a global bond fund.

Adjriou was previously at American Century Investment, where he launched an emerging markets total return strategy and managed forex rates overlays on the firm’s fixed income range.

At Carmignac he manages the Carmignac Portfolio Global Bond fund, which invests across assets including corporate bonds and currency strategies.

Adjiriou started his career at IBM in the US in 2001 as a developer but in 2005 he joined HSBC Asset Management in Paris, initially as a quantitative analyst in charge of hedging. He then managed an absolute return fund in developed markets before moving to New York to manage a total return emerging market fund.

He reports to Rose Ouahba, head of fixed income.
