Candriam hires manager for emerging markets equity push

Galina Besedina has joined Candriam as portfolio manager and senior emerging markets equity analyst – a newly created role.

Besedina was previously a portfolio manager and partner at Paris-based Comgest and has 13 years’ experience in emerging markets equity investing.

Based in Paris, Besedina reports to Jan Boudewijns, the asset manager’s head of emerging markets equity, who said Besedina was “instrumental” in taking assets under management in Comgest’s emerging markets strategy from €2 billion to €14 billion.

Boudewijns said emerging markets equity was a “strategically important” area for Candriam. The fund manager’s emerging markets equity team currently manages more than €2.5 billion of assets.
