BNY Mellon | Pershing, a provider of trading and related services to asset managers, has appointed Umar Zaman as head of strategy for its Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) business.
Umar will join the BNY Mellon | Pershing EMEA executive committee based in London.
Zaman will be responsible for shaping the firm’s EMEA strategy to support clients’ needs for “simplification, scale and service”, said the company.
Zaman will report to the head of Pershing EMEA, Cécile Nagel.
With a career spanning over 20 years, Zaman has worked across global organisations, including UK and European wealth and asset management firms and consultancies. Before this role, Zaman was the head of strategic initiatives and innovation at Investec Wealth & Investments.
Nagel said that Zaman’s appointment will prove “instrumental” as the firm continues to refine strategies in a “dynamic and competitive industry landscape.”
Zaman said: “There is a growing need for wealth and asset management firms to simplify complex operating models and invest in technology to differentiate their client service and achieve the scale required to meet their growth ambitions. Pershing EMEA is renowned for its ability to support firms on their transformation journeys towards long-term, profitable growth.”
