MSCI makes two senior appointments

Index provider MSCI has made two senior appointments with Baer Pettit as chief operating officer and Diana Tidd to head of equity index products.

Pettit’s responsibilities will include oversight of the development, operations and profitability of the firm’s full product line. These include index, analytics, environmental and social governance and real estate products.

Pettit, a member of the firm’s executive committee, has more than 15 years of experience with MSCI. He joined the firm in 2000 and served as head of client coverage from 2001 to 2012 and as head of marketing from 2005 to 2012. In 2011, he became head of the firm’s index product line and in February 2015 was promoted to the role as head of all MSCI products.

Tidd, as head of equity index products, will report to Pettit. She joined MSCI in 1999 and has served in a variety of roles, including head of Americas client coverage and, more recently, head of Americas index products.

“Over the past three years, together with our Board, we have made a concerted effort to deepen the firm’s leadership bench – both by recruiting experienced executives from other firms and by moving existing leaders into important new roles,” says Henry Fernandez, MSCI chairman and chief executive officer.
