Liontrust hires to new global fixed income team

London-based asset manager Liontrust has hired Donald Phillips to its new global fixed income team.

Philips, who joins from Baillie Gifford, is the third addition to the fixed income team following the appointment of David Roberts and Phil Milburn from Kames Capital. Philips previously worked with Roberts and Milburn at Kames Capital for three years from 2005 to 2008.

The firm will launch strategic bond, high yield bond and absolute return bond funds after the fixed income team joins.

Philips was co-manager of the Baillie Gifford High Yield Bond Fund from June 2010 and the US High Yield Strategy from its launch in February 2017.

Baillie Gifford is replacing Philips as co-manager of the Baillie Gifford High Yield Bond Fund with Lucy Isles. Isles will work alongside Robert Baltzer in co-managing the £458 million (€519 million) fund.
