Lightspeed Faction launches $285m blockchain fund

Venture capital firm Lightspeed Faction has introduced a $285 million fund for early-stage blockchain projects.

The fund’s objective is to support and nurture emerging blockchain initiatives, offering founders access to experienced blockchain investors and operators from organisations like Amber Group, Blockchain.com and Coinbase.

Lightspeed Faction is a collaborative effort between Lightspeed Venture Partners and Faction, a crypto-focused fund. It aims to leverage the combined expertise of both entities to drive success in the blockchain space.

Co-founder Banafsheh Fathieh emphasised the fund’s dedication to advancing blockchain technology, highlighting the sector’s potential for innovation in various areas, including financial systems and telecommunications.

The announcement also noted Lightspeed Faction’s history of successful investments in blockchain startups, particularly during challenging market conditions.

While crypto venture capital funding recently experienced a three-year low, the fund injection is poised to stimulate the blockchain industry’s growth and development.
