Janus Henderson appoints director of equity research

Janus Henderson has hired Matthew Peron as director of equity research, replacing current director Carmel Wellso who is taking a sabbatical.

Based in Denver, Peron, who was most recently chief investment officer of New York-headquartered City National Rochdale, will report to the firm’s co-head of equities George Maris.

Wellso will work closely with Peron until she begins her sabbatical in July. She has yet to decide in what capacity she would like to return to Janus Henderson.

As director of equity research, Peron will oversee the firm’s centralised equity research function and will be the portfolio manager for all research strategies.

Janus Henderson Group saw assets under management increase to US$374.8 billion at the end of 2019, despite seeing a year of net outflows.
