Hargreaves Lansdown chief executive Chris Hill is leaving the firm after six years, the company announced this morning.
The board of Hargreaves Lansdown – one of the UK’s largest financial advisers and platforms – is searching for a successor.
Hill will remain in his role until a replacement is found and a transition is executed effectively, which could be until November 2023.
Hill was appointed CEO in April 2017, having joined in 2016 as chief financial officer. He became deputy CEO between 2016 and 2017.
HL chair Deanna Oppenheimer said: “Chris has successfully led the company through a period of significant change. He is leaving HL as a stronger company, with a clearly defined strategy that the board fully supports.
“Having started the implementation of the next phase of the company’s growth, Chris has decided it is time to pass the reins to a new CEO to continue to execute on this strategy and build on our market-leading proposition.”
Hill said that after laying “strong foundations” and delivering results, including implementing an “exceptional leadership team” it was time to hand over to a successor to take the company through the next phase of embedding its strategy.
