GWM Investment Management takes stake in Optimus Capital

Boutique wealth manager GWM Investment Management has taken a majority stake in Optimus Capital for an undisclosed sum.

The two London-based firms will be based in the same offices while Optimus will retain its name, brand and continue to be run independently.

The deal will see GWM add a suite of bespoke portfolio services to its investment offering.

Chris Payne, managing director at GWM Investment Management, said the deal was another chapter in GWM’s growth plan which brought institutional style, private equity deal capabilities for clients, and a range of diversified portfolios to its current offering.

Optimus Capital is led by Martin Newson, former head of European equities at Credit Suisse.

GWM Investment Management was formed in 2016 and is an affiliate of the GWM Group, a global wealth management business.
