First Sentier Investors (FSI) has created a new role and made two other appointments with the intent of strengthening its responsible investment (RI) and corporate sustainability capabilities.
Rebecca Antonini has been appointed to the newly-created role of head of corporate sustainability, while Joanne Lee has been hired as responsible investment specialist and Cressida Grant as head of corporate philanthropy.
As head of corporate sustainability, Antonini will deliver and execute on a global strategy to manage FSI’s ESG impacts. She will work alongside the RI team to ensure that FSI operates according to internationally accepted best practice standards of sustainability.
Antonini has been with FSI for 15 years, working in HR, governance change management and project roles in several regions, including Australia, Asia and the UK.
Lee, in her role as responsible investment specialist, will join the RI team and take responsibility for the delivery and promotion of FSI’s RI strategy and credentials in Asia.
She will be based in Hong Kong, supporting FSI’s investment teams and working with its clients in the region. She previously worked for WWF International as a technical specialist in its sustainable finance team.
As head of corporate philanthropy, Grant will report to Antonini and lead on the development of FSI’s global philanthropic strategy. Previously, Grant worked for The Prince’s Trust as head of philanthropy.
Mark Steinberg, CEO of FSI, said: “Joanne’s appointment supports the investment teams’ commitment to incorporating ESG principles across their processes and strategies. This is central to their investment approach, and underpins our corporate identity.
“We also believe acting responsibly as a business is in the best interest of our clients, and enables us to support our key stakeholder groups including our employees, wider society and our shareholder. Increasingly, corporates are also being assessed and held to account for their business practices and social impacts and how these are aligned with stated responsible investment principles.”
