Eastspring invests in Indian wind farm

Eastspring Investments, the Prudential’s Asian investment management arm, is to invest an undisclosed amount in the building of a 150-megawatt wind farm in India.

The 75-turbine wind farm is being built by Watsun Infrabuild in Tamil Nadu and Eastspring’s investment will be used to fund the construction of the second phase of the project.

The 2-megawatt wind turbines will be supplied by the Danish wind energy giant Vestas.

The project involves building a dedicated sub-station and extra high voltage power line.

Funding for the first phase of the project is already in place with the financing of the second phase expected to be completed next month.
