DWS makes senior appointments

DWS has made three London-based senior hires to newly-created roles in its European institutional client team.

Gareth Davies (pictured) joins as head of UK institutional clients, Alexia Giugni joins as head of institutional clients for southern Europe and Shalin Bhagwan joins as head of UK pensions advisory.

Davies joins DWS from Hermes Investment Management where he was head of client relationship management.

He was previously director in the institutional client business team at BlackRock. Prior to that he held senior roles at Henderson, JP Morgan and Bacon & Woodrow, where he qualified as an actuary.

Giugni has over 25 years’ experience in investment banking, having held senior roles in fixed income distribution at JP Morgan, Citigroup and UBS.

Bhagwan was head of fixed income at Ashburton Investments, where he was responsible for its liability driven investment business.

He was previously head of UK liability driven investment at AXA Investment Managers and head of structuring for Legal & General Investment Management.

DWS, previously Deutsche Asset Management, had €676 billion of assets under management as of end March.
