Columbia Threadneedle hires in Austria and Spain

Columbia Threadneedle Investments has appointed two people to newly-created roles in Austria and Spain as part of its plan to increase its presence on continental Europe.

Joining from Austrian firm Raiffeisen Kapitalanlage, Alexandra Frania (pictured) will take up the post of sales director in the fund manager’s Vienna office.

Frania spent 17 years at Raiffeisen Kapitalanlage, most recently as senior fund manager focusing on the selection of third-party funds. At Columbia Threadneedle, she will be responsible for developing client relationships across different segments in Austria, as well as Central and Eastern Europe.

In mid-August, Columbia Threadneedle’s Madrid office appointed Gabriel Simón who joined the investment group after 13 years with Santander Asset Management.

He will be responsible for client relationships in Iberia, as well as supporting the Latin American business.

Over the past two years, Columbia Threadneedle has made 18 appointments in continental Europe.
