US fund house BlackRock has launched a strategy targeting five megatrends said to shape the future of both the global economy and society, with alpha and index exposure.
The multi-themed business growth fund acts as a one-stop-shop for investors seeking exposure to both alpha and index products in the US asset manager’s thematic platform.
Managed by Chris Ellis Thomas and Rafael Iborra, the BGF Multi-Theme Equity Fund targets companies expected to thrive long-term amidst accelerated megatrends including technological breakthrough, urbanisation, and climate change.
BlackRock’s global head of thematic sector-based investing, Evy Hambro, said the fund is long-term in nature, but will also seek to “capture shorter-term trends” based on the ebb and flow of news sentiment.
By combining both alpha and index in the strategy, the firm says it aims to attract investors looking to access a wide range of global themes through a one portfolio.
