Aviva Investors creates ESG real assets role

Aviva Investors has hired a sustainability specialist for its real assets business launched last year.

Ed Dixon takes up the newly created role as head of environmental, social and governance (ESG). He joins from Landsec, formerly Land Securities Group, where he was most recently the company’s sustainability insights director.

Aviva Investors has £45 billion (€50.6 billion) of assets under management on its real assets platform.

Based in London, Dixon will report to Melanie Collett, head of real estate asset management, who said that real assets were of “growing importance” to investors and occupiers, and that Dixon’s role would enhance ESG procedures.

The Aviva Investors real assets business recently purchased the future headquarters of Unilever in Hamburg, Germany, and in February the firm announced the appointment of the head of asset management in continental Europe, who would focus on property. The appointment bolstered the real assets strategy, which was launched in 2018.
