Aegon AM appoints fixed income CIO

Aegon Asset Management, the investment arm of the Dutch insurer Aegon, has appointed Russ Morrison as global chief investment officer to manage a team of 140 people working for the recently created fixed income platform.

Morrison is based in Chicago and is a former head of fixed income, equities and multi-asset at Barings (formerly Babson Capital) and has experience in public and private debt investing.

Aegon AM has created four investment platforms – fixed income, real assets, equities and multi-asset & solutions – under a global CIO framework following the integration of its Asian, European and US businesses. The fixed income platform manages €170 billion.

Overall, Aegon AM manages €352 billion.  

Kirk Buese, the current interim global CIO for fixed income is due to retire after 33 years’ service.
