Columbia Threadneedle has launched two sustainability-focused funds in response to growing investor demand.
Both funds will draw on eight themes related to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, including food security, health and wellbeing, and the climate transition.
Portfolio managers, Pauline Grange and Andrea Carzana, will work alongside the firm’s fundamental research and responsible investment in portfolio construction, using in-house ratings.
To be included, companies need to have sustainability as a material part of their business and as a “genuine” management goal, Columbia Threadneedle stated.
The funds are concentrated equity strategies, one global and one pan-European, and seek to invest in companies that target positive sustainable outcomes alongside strong financial returns.
Grange, who manages the Columbia Threadneedle (Lux) Sustainable Outcomes Global Equity fund, said: “In a world of societal and environmental change, companies that set out to invest and innovate for a more sustainable future not only support the planet and its inhabitants, but also their potential to generate strong financial returns and stable growth over the long-term.”
The other fund is the Columbia Threadneedle (Lux) Sustainable Outcomes Pan-European Equity fund, managed by Carzana.
